David Mo x Modal Labs
Hi, my name is David, and I think I'd be a great fit for the Modal Labs team as a Product/Frontend Intern.
My interests span all areas of computer science. While most of my professional experience is in frontend and fullstack development, I also have experience from classes and projects in backend development and distributed systems. I want to apply my skills to help build the best infrastructure product on the market.
I find meaning in my work from being able to see the direct impact of my work. I love solving problems for my friends and family by creating software that makes their lives easier. For example, Awardrobe was inspired by my dad's hunt for polo shirts.
From classes to clubs to work, I've continuously pushed myself to learn new technologies and paradigms to always be malleable to working in different environments. I'm also an effective communicator who enjoys sharing knowledge and collaborating with others.
I believe in hard work and dedication to get things done. Hopefully my obsession for craft comes across from the effort I put into this website and my other projects.
Selected projects
This website
Wanting to learn Svelte and use Modal, I switched from my usual Next.js stack to build this website. In addition to being a personal portfolio, it also functions as a GitHub repository viewer. For example, clicking on this card will take you to this website's repository.
Modal Deploy
While working on this website, I also built a tool to easily deploy Modal apps, inspired by Vercel's deploy button. The tool allows you to easily deploy web endpoints from GitHub without any local setup.
Awardrobe
A web app I made to help users track the prices and availability of clothes across to find the best deals. While the project is now archived, at its peak it was tracking 10,000+ items across five different stores.
NYU Course Evaluations
To help teach students full stack web development for a club on campus, I built a search engine for course feedback data to help students decide which courses and instructors to choose.
